Have you ever had a moment where you just knew something, without logic, reason, or proof? Maybe you took a different route home and avoided a traffic jam. Or you felt drawn to call someone, only to discover they truly needed to hear from you. That’s your inner voice. Some call it intuition. Others call it Spirit, higher self, or soul wisdom.

In this blog, I want to share how to recognise your inner voice, how to separate it from fear or overthinking, and most importantly, how to trust it.

What Is Your Inner Voice?

Your inner voice is that quiet, calm knowing that rises up from within, not from the mind, but from the soul. It doesn’t yell. It doesn’t pressure. It feels like a whisper you already trust, even if you don’t understand why.

This is the voice I listen to when I connect with Spirit during readings. It’s the same voice that guides each of us through life. You were born with it. The trick is remembering how to hear it again.

How to Identify It

Here are some key ways to recognise when your inner voice is speaking:

1. It feels calm, clear, and neutral.
Unlike fear or anxiety, which are loud and urgent, your intuition feels peaceful, even when it warns you.

2. It shows up as sudden clarity.
You might be overthinking something for days, and suddenly, a quiet answer drops in. That’s your higher self offering guidance.

3. It repeats gently.
If something keeps coming up, a thought, a gut feeling, a pull in a certain direction, it might be more than coincidence.

4. It resonates in the body.
The body speaks when the mind won’t listen. Intuition often comes as a physical sensation: chills, warmth, or even just a deep yes in your gut.

How to Strengthen It

Like a muscle, your intuition grows stronger the more you use it. Try these daily practices:

Quiet the Noise
Spend time in stillness, whether it’s meditation, walking in nature, or simply unplugging. Your inner voice needs space to speak.

Journal Your Nudges
Write down gut feelings, dreams, or synchronicities. You’ll start to see patterns, and trust them.

Ask and Listen
Before making decisions, ask your inner self or Spirit for guidance. Then pause. Pay attention to the subtle response that follows.

Practice Small Trust
Start with everyday choices, like what to eat or which route to take. Notice how things flow when you follow your first instinct.

Inner Voice vs. Inner Critic

This part is important. Your inner voice guides with love. Your inner critic speaks from fear or conditioning.

Here’s how to tell the difference:

Inner Voice (Intuition)

Inner Critic (Fear/Ego)

Calm and reassuring

Judgmental or harsh

Quiet and subtle

Loud and repetitive

Pulls you forward

Holds you back

Feels expansive

Feels tight or anxious

When in doubt, ask: Is this voice rooted in love or fear?

Trusting What You Know Without Proof

One of the biggest challenges on the spiritual path is learning to trust something you feel before you can prove it. But this is the nature of the inner voice, it doesn’t wait for validation.

Learning to trust your inner voice is one of the most empowering things you can do. It connects you to Spirit, to your higher self, and to a life aligned with your true path.

You don’t have to get it right every time. Just start listening. Start asking. And start honoring that soft whisper within. That’s where the magic begins.
